About 75% of my paintings are completed onsite. They are painted on birch plywood panels prepared with a stain and sealer. Being small, light, slim and portable they are convenient for day trips near home and longer sketching trips alike. Onsite I am working under the influence of the scene and painting fairly quickly. I feel these paintings have a freshness and immediacy about them that is not usually found in studio paintings.
